About the Author
Reza Mohajerinejad is a student activist and one of the organizers of the Iranian student uprisings in July of 1999. Founder of the International Alliance of Iranian Students and the Global Student Alliance, he is currently a student at San Francisco State University.

About the book

On July 8, 1999, the dormitories of Tehran University were attacked by government-backed militia who ransacked the dorms in the middle of the night, beating, terrorizing, and shooting students. The events of that night resulted in a student uprising that brought some 50,000 students out into the streets of cities all over Iran.

Live Generation is the story of the courageous students who participated in that movement, how it grew, and where it is today. Never before told from the inside perspective, the book provides a look at Iran's youth and the hunger they have for a secular, democratic rule in their country. Through attempts to outrun authorities and his eventual capture and torture at the hands of the Islamic Regime, Live Generation profiles the story of Reza Mohajerinejad's escape from Iran and the work that continues to this day among the students of the past and present.
