About the Author Reza Mohajerinejad is a student activist and one of the organizers of the Iranian student uprisings in July of 1999. Founder of the International Alliance of Iranian Students and the Global Student Alliance, he is currently a student at San Francisco State University.

July 8, 1999,
the dormitories of TehranUniversity were attacked
by government-backed militia who ransacked the dorms in the middle of the
night, beating, terrorizing, and shooting students. The events of that night resulted in a
student uprising that brought some 50,000 students out into the streets of cities all over Iran.
